Week 1 Project: My MCBS Story

Before I started the MCBS program here at Full Sail University, I had almost given up hope to find a degree that actually interested me and that I wanted to pursue. I knew I wanted to be involved in some sort of media in my career, but I found it really difficult with my surrounding influences. I had always thought that I wanted to pursue music, but came to a better conclusion that I should start out with something with more options. I soon became more and more interested with media and since it is becoming such an advanced field, I knew it could be fun and reliable. Because of that, I had decided to go back to researching more about my dream career. Although it was not a for sure choice yet on exactly what that dream career is, I researched schools that offered my degree program. Because of that, I remembered I had wanted to go to Full Sail University ever since I was in 9th grade. I had lost touch of the thought because it wasn't in my price range and I knew if I were to commit to it, I couldn't back down once I started. I had to know that this was exactly what I had been searching for, for the past 7 years. Because of that, I did more research about the program and fell in love with every second of it. It was exactly what I had been searching for, from the unique and exciting courses, to providing you with the right equipment and software. This was a school that was going to make my education fun and inspiring. I had so much built up excitement that I couldn't wait any longer. Until finally, I applied for the MCBS program back in September of 2014 and now I am more proud of myself then ever before. The classes are fun, the people are great, and I couldn't have picked a better college. I am extremely proud of myself that I took the initiative to apply on my own terms and follow through. And ever since I decided to pursue my passion in every day life, no matter what I do, I find myself more knowledgable and eager to learn more and more every day.

How has reading your classmates stories helped shaped your own?

Reading my other classmates stories helped me realize some of my forgotten demons. From the beginning I always had worried about money but I learned that when it comes to following your dreams, money won't be an issue. They reminded me that although you may face struggles, going to this school really has been an amazing thing. Although we have many influences, some may not be good, in the end you have to do what's best for you and follow YOUR dreams, not someone else's. Can I get an AMEN!
